Biggy’s Landscape Service, Inc. has several employment positions available. We are looking for hard-working, dependable individuals, to be part of an amazing team of professional landscapers. Biggy’s specializes in professional lawn care, gardening, and irrigation maintenance, and we strive to provide the highest quality service around. We offer benefits after a short probationary term including health insurance and a 401k retirement plan. The work environment is ever-changing and fast paced, all work is completed outside and we offer services valley-wide. A valid drivers license is preferred, you must have daily transportation to Columbia Falls. Full and part-time positions available. Wages D.O.E. Entry level positions starting at $16.50 per hour, experienced laborers starting at $18.00 per hour, Crew Leaders starting at $20.00 per hour. Operation of work vehicle with trailer and necessary equipment (must have current driver’s license), two years experience with operation of commercial vehicle and trailer required.

Professional irrigation design and installation knowledge and know-how, landscape installation knowledge and know-how, four years of commercial experience required:
a. commercial and residential irrigation system design
a. Hunter brand systems
b. double coverage design technique
c. water-wise design and component set-up
d. blueprint type drawings – color coded and scaled (to be copied and provided to client upon installation)
e. current and upcoming technology awareness and education
b. irrigation system installation
a. water pipe - types including: pvc, poly, copper and galvanized steel
b. all types of backflow prevention devices/dual check valves, including city requirements/procedures
c. various types of water valves
d. controllers, pump start relays, rain sensors, other applicable low-voltage electrical products
e. all types of sprinkler heads and drip irrigation components
f. all other irrigation system components
c. low-voltage lighting design and installation
d. irrigation system maintenance
a. spring start up, system audit, and adjustments
b. fall shut down/blow out with air compressor

2. Employee Management and Supervision

Safety procedures and employee training: ensure that employees you manage have been properly trained on all equipment used, as well as proper safety procedures and PPE (personal protective equipment) are used with all tools and equipment, enforcement of safety program at all times.

Sequencing of events: communication with employees in morning regarding day’s work, management of employees at job sites, delegation of labor duties, issuing time constraints to employees.

Efficiency: ensure that proper tools and equipment are used for all tasks by all employees, keeping employees on task, prevention of unnecessary use of labor hours.

Breaks and lunch: use best judgment when determining when breaks and lunch are needed, as related to labor flow during the work day.

Physical labor: crew leader must set the pace for the laborers, always leading a team-work type of environment.

Employee policy administration: enforcement of policies at all times to all employees, enforcement of safety program at all times, assistance with completion of accident reports

3. Daily Preparation Tasks

Morning/afternoon duties: daily preparation of all necessary materials, tools, equipment and vehicle; communication with owner/management regarding scheduling and sequencing of assigned jobs.

Job materials: management of job materials and deliveries to job site, communication with owner/management regarding delivery timing, ensure necessary materials are always available on job site.

Other duties: vehicle and equipment maintenance - checking oil, greasing equipment, etc. on a biweekly basis or more if needed, fill tank with gas/fill equipment/mix gas at appropriate times, removal of garbage from vehicles on a daily basis, organization of shop tools, clean and sharpen tools as necessary, maintenance of power equipment on a weekly basis

4. Paperwork and Communication Requirements

Timecards: ensure the employees you manage have correct client name and times for individual jobs, ensure employees fill out time card on a daily basis, double check time cards for accuracy, ensure time cards are turned in every Friday.

Daily worksheets/work orders: complete paperwork on a daily basis; track labor hours used and tasks completed, report job site safety concerns, note conversations with clients, note of individual job site issues that need addressing, track all materials used on each job site; paperwork to be turned in upon job completion.

Track labor hours: aim to finish job at or below the labor hours allotted.

Track broken tools: communication and safety records regarding broken tools and equipment, requests for tool replacements, enforcement of proper use and maintenance of tools.

Communication with clients: discussion of work with clients as necessary, issue change orders with clients as necessary, all major issues shall be directed to owner/management, portray professional attitude and demeanor at all times.

4. Paperwork and Communication Requirements

Safety procedures and employee training: proper training on all equipment used, as well as proper safety procedure training and PPE (personal protective equipment) are used with all tools and equipment, compliance and understanding of safety program at all times.

Efficiency: ensure that proper tools and equipment are used for all tasks, keeping on task as outlined by crew leader.

Physical labor: 100% effort required at all times while on the clock, you must be physically able and capable of performing all above listed physical duties, you must be able to lift 50# or more when requested, using proper lifting techniques.

Employee policy comprehension: understanding and execution of all employee policies at all times.

Miscellaneous duties: removal of garbage from vehicles on a daily basis, organization of shop tools, clean tools as necessary

3. Paperwork and Communication Requirements

Timecards: ensure that you have correct client name and times for individual jobs, fill out time card on a daily basis, double check time cards with crew leader for accuracy, ensure time cards are turned in every Friday.

Daily worksheets/work orders: assist crew leader with paperwork as requested.

Follow instructions: communication with crew leader in morning regarding the day’s work, comprehension of instructions and tasks, following time constraints given by crew leader.

Miscellaneous duties: read all assigned educational materials that are presented/available, continuing education and achievement of comprehensive knowledge of plant names and identification

4. Miscellaneous Notes

c. knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment necessary for individual chemical application
d. ability to understand and abide by chemical labels, published rates, and Material Safety Data Sheets
e. ability to calculate chemical ratios, mix chemicals according to label information
f. ability to calibrate all types of sprayers according to label instructions
g. ability to completely and accurately fill out all chemical application paperwork
